Katie Couric and Anderson Cooper may be working to swap jobs between CBS and CNN according to TV insiders.
CBS and Katie Couric might be parting ways before her contract is up in 2011, as soon as January, following the presidential inauguration.

CBS Broadcasting Inc. and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. might be working on a deal to swap Katie Couric and Anderson Cooper, who is also a reporter for CBS' 60 minutes, to revive their ratings. Reports suggest Anderson is the most likely candidate to become the new host of the "CBS Evening News." The Wall Street Journal has reported, Couric and the network will likely part ways before her contract is up in 2011. They may part as soon as January, following the presidential inauguration. In view of that in 2006 when they lured Couric away from NBC, CBS has failed to take advantage of the newscaster's popularity. "It could be less than a year from now, which would be less than halfway through her contract," Sam Schechner of the Wall Street Journal. "They brought her in to appeal to younger viewers and younger viewers still aren't watching the evening news," Schechner added.
On the other hand, it should be said that the CBS news program has been in third place for the last 15 years, way before Couric came aboard. "We are very proud of the 'CBS Evening News,' particularly our political coverage, and we have no plans for any changes regarding Katie or the broadcast," a rep for CBS said. Couric stated, "I am working hard and having fun. My colleagues continue to impress me with their commitment to the newscast, and I am very proud of the show we put on every day," she said in her own statement.
