According to her representative, Jessica Simpson went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Friday after suffering a fever, but has since been released.

The 27-year-old singer, who is currently working on a country album, was treated for a kidney infection.

Jessica Simpson made her artistic debut with the single, "I Wanna Love You Forever" that hit the Billboard Hot 100 in 2000. She led a pop battle with fellow singers Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, but couldn’t reach their popularity and the sales figures that they achieved. However, her pop career was marked by singles that soon became hits, such as "A Little Bit" and "Irresistible."

Her career took another turn after she and her then-husband Nick Lachey became stars of the MTV reality show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." After the show she began contemplating am acting career and made her debut in a motion picture as Daisy Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard" in 2005. She also starred in "Blonde Ambition," her third movie that premiered in December 2007, which proved to be a flop and was soon released on DVD.

Jessica Simpson’s country album is expected to be launched this year under Columbia records. She has recently been the star of a gig in Kuwait for the US troops.
