Britney Spears was involved in a minor car collision on a Los Angeles freeway on Saturday night.

Pop star Britney Spears was involved in three-car accident along the northbound 405 at the 101 freeway in Los Angeles but there were no injuries. There was no visible damage and nobody was ticketed.

The California Highway Patrol says the collision Saturday night occurred in bumper to bumper traffic.

Spears, 26, who has kept a low profile recently after undergoing psychiatric evaluation amid spiraling personal problems, ran her 2008 Mercedes into the rear of a car in the suburb of Sherman Oaks late Saturday.

California Highway Patrol officer Patrick Kimball said Spears had attempted to stop but was unable to brake in time. The car Spears hit was pushed into another car.

Spears, one of the most successful female pop stars in history, has dominated celebrity headlines over the past year after being stripped of the custody of her children following her split from ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Fears about her mental health led to her twice being whisked to a Los Angeles hospital earlier this year where she was kept under observation.
