Take-Two announced that BioShock 2 will be released in late 2009, although a gaming platform still hasn't been confirmed. We do speculate that it will be for Microsoft's Xbox 360.

BioShock 2 is a sequel to one of last year's biggest video games, Bioshock.

The game sequel, although some speculate it might be an actual prequel, is being developed by 2K Marin, which means creator Ken Levine's 2K Boston studio is not on the project. Levine was the creative director for the first BioShock and will be part of the new sequel. Take-Two did mention that Levine would take part in the sequel but they didn't say to what degree.

According to some buzz we've been hearing on the Web, the game will unravel events that happened before the original game (prequel). It will depict the downfall of Rapture, the underwater utopia that went kaput. However, as nothing's been confirmed, the game may well turn out to be a sequel.

The game is from the 1960s alternative history-based "BioShock." The BioShock game title has sold over 2 million units worldwide since its launch in August 2007.
