AMD has unleashed a graphics monster and most of us gamers are going to be drooling over this one. This is a new high-end graphics card with a dual-GPU chipset, the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2. And some might say that its about time too that we see a new high-end graphics card from AMD/ATi again to challenge Nvidia. The ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 integrates two Crossfire-linked 3870 GPUs on the one card running at about 825 MHz. AMD says that the 1.3 billion transistor board has a total of 640 stream processors and will deliver the processing power of t TFlops which would more than double the processing power of the regular HD 3870. Reports are that the 3870 X2 edges out the Nvidia 8800 Ultra card, but of course Nvidia is already working on its next-generation graphics card that is said to blow the 8800 Ultra away. We shall see but for now, the 3870 X2 retails at about $450.
